The last time I hiked Tolmie Peak was in Oct 2014. I remembered how beautiful it was at sunset and wanted a repeat. We arrived at the trailhead at 5:30pm and by the time we made it to the fire lookout we had the place to ourselves. Perfect.

The trail begins at Mowich Lake in the Mt Rainier National park, so a National park Pass is required to park here. Dogs are not allowed in the park. The trail was very well maintained without any obstacles to speak of. We stayed at the lookout and watched the sun disappear while the full moon came out above the mountain. For those willing to hike by headlamp on the return, this was about as good as it gets.

Wildflowers along the hillside above Eunice Lake just before the lookout tower were in full bloom.

It would be amazing to wake up here in the morning
