Mount Teneriffe is near North Bend, WA with a summit of 4788 ft It has an amazing view on a clear day, but I saw none of that today. I went with a hiking group that makes this an annual post-Thanksgiving tradition called a "Turkey Burner". There were only a couple of guys (and me) stupid enough to do it on a day like today. It started raining in a downward motion and the higher we got the more horizontal the rain became.
On the summit the wind and rain was so strong we could only stay for a minute or so. I took a really poor video just so I'd have something to show for the trip. No pretty pictures this time. They rate this a double black diamond hike and the two die-hard hikers I climbed with confirm that there really aren't any tougher trails in the area. So, that made me feel good. If you picture a pristine, flat trail through the woods, add rocks of every size, interweave with thousands of roots, then cover it all with mud and wet needles, then you can picture the trail conditions. Oh yeah, and give it a 50° incline with gail force wind and cold rain...
But, it's still a heck of a lot better that being at the mall on Black Friday!
